
Kristen Anne Bell (born July 18, 1980)[1] is an American actress and singer. She began her acting career by playing in stage productions during her time studying at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, she made her Broadway stage debut in the role of Becky Thatcher in the comedy musical The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and also appeared in a Broadway revival of The Crucible the following year. After appearing in the action thriller Spartan (2004) which she also starred in, she received praise for her performance in Gracie's Choice (2004). In 2004, she made her Broadway stage debut as Becky thatcher in the comedy musical The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Later, she was cast in the drama for teens on television, Veronica Mars (2004). The show received praise from critics and a Saturn Award nomination for Best Actress on television. She reprised the character in the 2014 film as well as the renewal in 2019. Bell appeared in the musical Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005) as Mary Lane. This was a reprised role from her New York musical. Bell also starred in Heroes, the superhero drama, as Elle Bishop, from 2007 to 2008. Bell played the role of the narrator in the title role for the series for teens called Gossip Girl. The 2021 sequel will feature her reprising the role. Bell also played the part as Jeannie van den Hooven, who is the main female character on the comedy series House of Lies. Bell was the main role in the role of Eleanor Shellstrop on the critically acclaimed NBC comedy show The Good Place, receiving a Golden Globe Award nomination for her performance.
